| Contaminated Land | ![]() |
Contaminated land typically results from intensive heavy industrial usage and can have significant economic and legal implications for businesses. KBC strives to ensure that our clients are aware of their land management obligations and provide comprehensive services to help clients fulfill their responsibilities and control costs.
KBC is capable of undertaking a variety of intrusive field investigations and assessment of environmental liabilities associated with decommissioning of industrial facilities.
Phase I, II and III Environmental Site Assessment (ESA)
Contaminated land investigations can be broadly classified into three stages:
- Phase I ESA
The Phase I ESA is a non-intrusive desktop review of available information to identify potential environmental and human health risks. The Phase I ESA provides the forward basis for planning and directing the Phase II ESA.
- Phase II ESA
KBC has extensive experience of undertaking Phase II assessments using all borehole drilling techniques and sampling methodologies. The Phase II ESA is an important document that defines the environmental baseline of the facility or provides the basis for further investigation of contaminants.
- Phase III ESA
KBC is experienced in the development of remedial action plans (RAP) and the implementation of options cost/benefit assessments. The use of a systematic option analysis ensures that priority objectives are met and that financial, social, technical and corporate requirements are considered in the selection of an optimal or preferred option.
Decommissioning and Decontamination Services
Environmental liabilities associated with decommissioning assets and facilities are often ignored until it's too late. KBC can help to plan your decommissioning in advance and reduce the likelihood of unexpected delays and costs.
