KBC CarbonManager
KBC CarbonManager is a tool for management level representation of site CO2 emissions, with a clear breakdown of sources. It calculates CO2 produced from individual combustion equipment, not from emission factors, but from combustion equations. The software incorporates all relevant equipment in process plants, including those shown in the diagram.

KBC CarbonManager compares the emissions from specific units against the regulatory limit. It also evaluates the potential for reducing CO2 through energy efficiency and fuel switching. When linked to the DCS, KBC CarbonManager can be used to trend the historical CO2 emissions pattern of the site, and it can be used for day-to-day monitoring and targeting of GHG emissions.

With the mounting pressure to reduce the emission of Greenhouse Gases, hydrocarbon processing plants face big challenges in future operation. A combination of new and complex legislation, trading opportunities, public pressure and environmental consciousness brings this industry into a new age where the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions may set constraints on throughput and operating margins.
