VIS-SIM
Visbreakers turn low-value heavy end streams into saleable product. The key for operating these units is to find the best conversion level while still making stable fuel oil product within feasible furnace operation. VIS-SIM™ can help you select best operation within from this multitude of trade-offs.

VIS-SIM simulates visbreaker unit operation, performing detailed heat-balance, and pressure-drop calculations. It predicts the maximum conversion possible for the unit to produce stable fuel oil.

With VIS-SIM, you can identify potential performance improvements by monitoring daily operations and evaluating alternative unit operating strategies. VIS-SIM can be configured to most visbreaking process flow schemes. It contains a rigorous furnace model using the tube geometry and detailed fluid characterisation based on easily available plant data. VIS-SIM models either coil or soaker drum type units. The downstream product operation, including cutter streams, can be simulated fully with the Petro-SIM flowsheeting tools.

For specified feeds, operating conditions and constraints, VIS-SIM determines the resulting product yields and properties. Overall unit operating economics can be calculated based on feed and product values and operating costs.

VIS-SIM is available within Petro-SIM™ and Petro-SIM Express™.
